In 1976, Peter had completed his training out at the Airstream Factory, and was working at Belle Camperland (now closed), an R.V. dealership. The business quickly grew with no advertising, just word and mouth. In 1992, Pete and Sue made a decision to purchase a larger facility, that would include the largest store in the area, an updated air-conditioned service center, a wood shop, metal shop, full size truck lift, and most importantly, the addition of new R.V.’s for sale. Pete recognized the growing trend of SUV’s, minivans, small trucks and 4-door 1/2 tons becoming popular with families. Custom Camper Inc. took on a role of offering a new type of light weight, easy to tow trailers to the market – Our Superlite Flagstaff Travel Trailers have been the #1 selling trailer in Connecticut for many years.
